LatinMX is put on hold while we rework the format. We may be relocating to Sunday afternoons. Keep checking back, we may be in a different location/date soon!

Latinmx is a social event for people who enjoy a mix of latin dances. We have classes, dances, and performances in salsa, cha cha, samba, merengue, samba, and rumba, as well as lesser known dances like bachata, mambo, cumbia, paso doble, rueda, and bolero. Average age is 30. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Attendance is between 60 and 120. Dancers from San Francisco, Berkeley, San Jose, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, and Oakland attend these weekly classes and party. Anna Botelho dj and instructor.

Dj music

Our stellar DJ will play hot Latin music for dancing from 9 to 11, including cha cha and merengue mixers, a rueda, a line dance, and our flirtatious choreographed dance, "The Havana", along with an occasional birthday jam. You will enjoy making new friends or seeing familiar faces as the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. This music really makes you want to get up and dance!

Every week has two classes running simultaneously from 7 to 9: an introductory class in one of the core Latin dances, and an intermediate class that will feature advanced variations of the basic latin dances a specialty Latin dance, or "The Havana". No partner needed for class or party: we rotate rapidly in class and many dancers choose to dance with a variety of partners during the party.

$12 for all classes and dances, $10 for both classes only, $8 for dance only. Casual comfortable attire. Cold water and light refreshments are provided.

The class and dance are held at the First United Methodist Church, 625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94025. The cross street is Byron which is one block off University and Middlefield near downtown Palo Alto. Entrance to the upstairs ballroom is in the main church courtyard, with the stairs entrance facing AWAY from the street on the right.
